Audience Research

I asked people to listen to some songs (without allowing them to watch the music video) and then answer some questions which will help me determine a house style.

The questions I am asking are:

1. What colours do you see when you hear the music?

2. What feelings do you think the music conveys?

3. What age group do you think the music appeals to?

4. What words stand out to you ( if there are lyrics ) ?

5. What words would you use to describe the music?

Song 1: Muse - Uprising 

1. Blue, Black, Brown

2. Angry

3. 20 yr olds +

4. "Paranoid is in bloom", "Another Promise"

5. Bass guitar, classic, synth. 

Song 2 : Muse - Undisclosed Desires

1. Black, yellow, red

2. Pleading, Sad, Misunderstood

3. 20 Year old +

4. "it's cold"

5. Synth

Song 3 : Patent Pending - The Way You Make Me Shake

1. Neon colours, black

2. Happy, desperate

3. Teens

4. "Best", "Keep me moving"

5. Anxiety, Boy band

From this research I now know that the house 

style should contain the colours black and some

 other bright neon colours. 

If I take the Punk/Alt/Rock genre,

then I should try and make it appeal to the target 

audience of teens/young adult/16+.

Also the form of address should be quite

informal.
